Mayonnaise

Some background... I grew up in a Hellmann's Mayonnaise brand house. My grandfather would switch cereals and ice cream brands based on the coupons sourced but never wavered from Hellmann's. I always thought my grandmother did "sandwiches with too much mayo" but now I see, she was layering on the love and luxury. She would have liked as I do, the new upside-down easy dispenser version of Hellmann's.

Mayo always appeared on BLT sandwiches, in potato, tuna, and pasta salads. "Tacos" in our early years were mayo and tomatoes on a flour tortilla, if you can believe it.

Today in much the same way, it also appears on the side when I roast potatoes (a taste I learned during my travels), in egg salad, and as a garnish on a salmon and rice dish.

My favorite mayo of the moment is Kewpie! (Pronounced qp). It boasts the more egg yokes and salt. It's very creamy and has a rich flavor, I find myself using just a little bit of it. Just kidding!

It comes in cute packaging with a little baby on it and an ingenious two style of dispensary, a single small circle and a large star tip.

What are your thoughts on plastic vs glass packaging for mayo?

Should I be making my own? Maybe that's next!

For now I am having a Japanese product obsession, and day dream planning our trip to Japan someday. Have you been?

A variety of tuna salad, with arugula, spinach, pasta.

Deviled eggs with chives, mustard, and camelized onions.

Egg salad in stages, in different ways. Always delicious.

*Funny egg meme I found.
